“This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine.”
We were all born with an innate light… a brilliance within that was meant to be shared with the world.
What has happened is that most of us have resisted our lights for so long and have shrugged off our magnificence, that we end up walking unconsciously through life never to fulfill our greatest destiny. Your light has been dimmed along the way by competing and striving in a world where you were meant to thrive and shine in the glory of God. Your light has been replaced with fear.
Fear can keep you in captivity. Fear will tell you to hide your light. Stay hidden. There’s safety in solitude. I get it. I was like that a while; but when you have a little divine spark on the inside of you, it’s not long before that spark will turn into a blazing flame. That flame will eventually become an inferno that will come pouring out because we were all meant to blaze trails. We were meant to be walking lighthouses in a dark, dark world.
Some area of the world in which you have been called to touch with your light is still cloaked in darkness because you have given in to a worldly and distorted view of yourself. You don’t identify with your own magnificence. The Psalmist David said it best in Psalm 139:14 (NIV), “I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful.” He ends the phrase with the confirmation, “I know that full well.”
Do you know how wonderful you really are? Do you know full well that you are a masterpiece that was crafted in pure love? Do you know that you were born to be great?
Author and teacher Marianne Williamson shared in her moving and enlightening book A Return to Love,
“We were all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.”
For you who have been standing in the shadows… shying away from the spotlight, you have my permission to go illuminate your space with your brilliance as I illuminate mine. To you man who’s struggling to make his way in the world and you woman who’s fighting to raise children on her own, you have my permission to tap into all of your unused potential as I use up every ounce of mine. To you who have been stuck in a box for way to long, you have my permission to get out and go blaze some trails and light up this world just as I am doing now and will continue to do until I cross over to the next realm.
Go man GLOW! Go girl GLOW! You have my permission to SHINE!
